We divested the space of a large soffit that made the kitchen feel cramped and created a clean, inviting kitchen with immaculate lighting, interrupted backsplashes, and ample counter space. We love all-white cabinets with contrasting walnut-stained island. The dark wood in the central island creates the appeal of classic free-standing workstations that function more as furniture than a fixture. The sturdy and expansive island workspace is topped with the same elegant quartz as the main countertops. We also achieved continuity by using the same generous silver handles for all kitchen cabinetries.
We built a generous kitchen island with plenty of storage and prep space. The countertop overhang opposite the prep space allows for casual seating and out-of-the-way storage for kitchen stools when they aren’t in use. Thanks to the new island, there’s plenty of room for multiple projects to occur simultaneously or to gather friends and family to eat and celebrate!
A continuous backsplash was on our client’s wish list. They chose a beautiful gray glass subway tile installed in a running bond pattern. The contrasting mosaic above the cook top shares the same neutral hue but adds texture and interest to one of the primary workspaces. As we noted before; there’s not an outlet in sight. We love the shine that an easy-to-clean backsplash adds to this lovely transitional kitchen.
A warm and inviting new kitchen is all about the lighting. From thoughtfully placed inset task lighting throughout the kitchen to statement pendulum lights above the island and deep inset single-basin kitchen sink, this arrangement offers well-illuminated spaces for every kitchen chore and delivers lovely intrigue with Edison bulbs and generous surrounding glass work.
